Custom Machine is a precision CNC manufacturing company serving medical and defense industries for over 40 years. We are a small, experienced team with a reputation for quality, integrity, and craftsmanship. We’re growing and looking for a skilled CNC Machinist & Setup Specialist who takes pride in their work and wants to be part of a stable, long-term team here on the Central Coast.

What You’ll Do

• Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes (Haas)
• Perform tool changes, offsets, work holding, and setups independently
• Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings
• Work from GibbsCAM programs and make minor program edits
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision tools
• Maintain high-quality standards for tight-tolerance parts
• Collaborate with team members to improve setups and machining efficiency
• Keep a clean, safe, and organized work area

What You Bring

✅ 3+ years of CNC machining & setup experience
✅ Experience running Haas controls
✅ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
✅ Strong understanding of tooling, speeds/feeds, and machining fundamentals
✅ Hands-on problem solver who can work independently
✅ Quality-minded with strong attention to detail

Bonus Skills (Preferred but Not Required)

• Experience using GibbsCAM
• Background machining medical or defense parts
• Prototype and small-run precision machining experience
• Knowledge of process improvement or lean manufacturing

Schedule & Pay

• Day shift with flexible start time
• Full-time, hourly position
• $30–$50 per hour, depending on experience
• Plenty of overtime opportunities
